Group Therapy for Selective Mutism

Our treatment method is eminently suited to group therapy when several children in the same school or kindergarten have SM. The therapy would begin for each of the children in his house with the therapist, and once each child individually speaks naturally to the therapist at home, therapy is relocated to a therapy room at school, initially alone with the therapist. Once each child speaks in the school therapy room with the therapist, a small group will be established with the other children with SM who have also previously spoken to the therapist in their homes.  Children learn from seeing others overcome their fears and obstacles, and group camaraderie makes group therapy powerful and effective.
